Mike’s Mellow Moment – 17 May 2017

Losing a loved one is one of the most painful things that can ever happen to a human. We nurture friendships and family ties from the day we’re born so that our lives are intrinsically interwoven with each other. When we are the closest, the indescribable emotion of loss when that connection is severed lives with us forever.

This week one of the stalwart members of our group lost their Mum at a ridiculously young age. The thing we feeling beings can never understand is how such joy, happiness and love can suddenly be wrenched from us. Someone once said that if we knew what pain we’d feel on losing each other, then we’d never start taking the drug that is love. But take it we do as we are created to love from a Source that is pure love itself. Hanging onto that belief is the only way we can cope with bereavement. Knowing that one day we will be back together with our loved ones. Knowing that they are now in a far greater place where there is no hatred, no division, no sadness and no regret.

Our time on this beautiful planet is fleeting. We know not the time or place of our parting, but one thing we know for certain, we WILL leave. And so, as our thoughts and prayers this weekend go out to Tony and his family along with all those poor people who lost their lives this week in the tragedy that was Grenfell Tower, we know that we will follow them to the next stage of our eternal adventure as sure as day follows night. We don’t know when but what we can hope is that we will be forever reunited with that bond of love. When we are, that bond will never be broken again, tears will never again be shed and sadness will never re-visit.

With those thoughts let us comfort each other. And in the meantime in the stillness of our hearts, in the silence of the night and in the darkness of despair let us listen to the whisper of hope from those who have simply passed to the next stage of their existence. They tell us they are alive, they are happier than they have ever been, all pain and sorrow is gone and time is but the blink of an eye. They are still with us and they will be for eternity.
