Mike’s Mellow Moment – 20 November 2016

Now don’t shoot the messenger, but….this time next month it’ll be nigh on Christmas. What a thought!

In the mere blink of an eye another year has flown by.

As we enter Advent this weekend and the festive season looms, we still have one week left of November, the month of the dead in many cultures; hence Halloween. It’s now, as the cold and dark pervade the warmth and light that we remember that all things – yes even us – must follow the pattern of the seasons, creeping through the season of spring, running through summer, galloping through autumn, until we slow down in our winter years in preparation for our next adventure elsewhere.

Last week though we remembered those who didn’t have the luxury of travelling through the seasons of life – those who lost their earthly lives through conflict. Likewise we recall every day those who have left us but who remain forever part of us. By remembering them and what they stood for, we try to avoid conflict in our daily lives. Piece by piece we help construct peace by peace.

To help us pour the waters of reconciliation and tranquility over division and aggression this week, here’s such a chilled out Mellow Moment that we can reach new levels of relaxation. It’ll help us align to the fact that the winter solstice is also but a month away when the light – and promise of a brand new year and season -starts to loom on the horizon.
