Mike’s Mellow Moment – 06 November 2016

Gunpowder, treason and plot! Another week, another festivity. This time it’s all about bonfires and fireworks, be them to commemorate a deed that went wrong (Guy Fawkes) or to celebrate a festival of light in the darkness (Diwali).

Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities mark this time of year with charitable causes, kindness, and actions for peace. At the border between Pakistan and India, the army on the Indian side approach their brothers and sisters on the Pakistan side and offer traditional sweets. The Pakistani soldiers anticipating the gesture, return the goodwill with an assortment of Pakistani sweets.

Maybe this week we could try in our own way to break down barriers and hold out the hand of reconciliation as depicted above? When we do we can expect to experience our very own rainbow of fireworks, lightning up the darkness in the most spectacular way.

To help us prepare for the week ahead, let’s chill together….
