Mike’s Mellow Moment – 24 July 2016

Hey Gang – Hope you’ve had an amazing week during a mini heatwave and that you’re keeping cool in body and spirit! To help us do just that here’s this week’s chillout….
As I head off to the birthday party of an amazing 100 year old, it reminds me of how precious every minute of every day is.

As we hear of more atrocities in yet another city, it can be all to easy to become fearful and worry for the future. Yet fear and hate can only lead to division, inequality and ultimately war. We need to focus on what unites us rather than that which divides. We can’t become fearful or anxious as that only creates more problems both biologically and psychologically.

Eileen Foicik who celebrates 100 wonderful years today has seen her fair share of wars – being born in the middle of the First World War – and times when the future looked bleak. Yet with her cheery outlook on life, the lady who was born in 1916 when “Jerusalem” was composed, has focused on the positive rather than the negative. Sure, she’s been knocked down many times but as so many of us do time and time again, she got back up, dusted herself off and got on with living this precious life on such a beautiful planet. Relishing every second of every minute of every hour of every day. That’s why she’ll be dancing today at her birthday party and how she managed to get to 100. That’s how we can make sure we do the same.
